boomChick podcast - experimental turntablist house and soul music

So, since this is becoming a habit of mine, I've decided to start a thread dedicated to my podcast. Notes about updates will remain on the same thread, along with commentary and criticism.

The most recent incarnation is the ijuswannalayaroundalldayinbedwithyou mix.
A fun mix! I tried to talkover and was unsuccessful, you will note the dramatic pauses.

I want to get better with playlists so here is an attempt...

ijuswannalayaroundalldayinbedwithyou - the coup - rhymesayers
gettin' into it - sylk 130
bob harrington, preacher
Not another love song... - Blacksoul
Style of Eye - mumblemouth
Freak show - da sun lounge
wonderful terry's wonderful dub - terry hunter - soul heaven
words - shrewd - myna
john tejada
the pledge - Saul Williams - ninja tune
this love - halo and the sidestreet players - city deep
Gold Mine - Take 6
Spread Love - Take6Its not perfect, of course. But you may join my journey of expression from episode to episode...progressive house at it's most literal. Progressively better!

find it and all the boomChick episodes at http://boomchick.podomatic.com

Visuals can be gathered at http://www.youtube.com/djboomchick

Enjoy!
I would love to hear your thoughts....

mommies!

I have a friend, Aimee of the herb club at mctc, who is due october 18 and is having a baby shower this sunday. I am wondering if any of you have used slings/pouches that you might give or sell to me for her.

Also, she is going to be using a diaper service. I was thinking of tracking down some covers for her as I recently gave away all my stuff on craigslist.

internet broken at home? what better reason to get coffee.

I celebrate with a now icon.
me and coffee

when all else fails, go out for coffee. I have been hanging out and drinking coffee since 5th grade. that is 20 years. at that time I rode the city bus to school. my transfer stop was right by baker's square. I would stop for pie and coffee. funny I later hung out at that same Baker's with my highschool boyfriend; smoking newports and being slackers. my first year of college was really down the tubes after we discovered the Fuel Cafe. George Webb's diner filled in the gaps. Brewed Awakenings let me bring my turntabes down there and we'd control the tunes. Rochambo hosted the moody poets, of which I was occasionally a part.

Then there is Minneapolis- the hardtimes....the Seward. Sebastian Joes, Caffetto, Soverign Grounds- and now I find that Espresso Royal is my corner cafe. Man, I've consumed a lot of coffee.

thanks for the thoughts everyone...I am also thankful I have a backup pc now that is in my son's room, with wireless. And all my homework can be (re)done on it. Just that right this second, he's sleeping in this very room.

and yes, it is nice it is still under the first year waranty, but I'd pay so much to get those photos back (just not quite the couple thousand it would take to recover them)...though this pc has the photos of his first 2 yrs on it. Lost are all those mp3s I've bought in the past 6mos. And from the looks of my backups, I don't have any docs or photos.

the worst part of this is the shame I feel for being so stupid cause it is my fault I wasn't well backed up.

and in all my desire to believe it wasn't me or my mac that failed, I would like to point out that I was running Word for mac and had 12 docs open simultaneously when it happened. I should have noticed that my machine had started running like a pc (sluggish) right before it happened.

so go back up your stuff.

i'm sorry, my journal is now a plus journal....plus advertising. I realized there are some photos for me to recover from my scrapbook and I didn't want to pay to access them again.

my mac book HD crashed today. it's at the apple store. I have 25 days left on my warranty.

I'm devastated. I haven't backed up anything in over 6 months. not to mention my final herbalism project.

The population of this country is 300 million.

160 million are retired.

That leaves 140 million to do the work.

There are 85 million in school.

Which leaves 55 million to do the work.

Of this there are 40 million employed by the federal government.

Leaving 15 million to do the work.

2.8 million are in the armed forces preoccupied with killing -insert current enemy here-
Which leaves 12.2 million to do the work.

Take from that total the 10.8 million people who work for state and city governments.

And that leaves 1.4 million to do the work.

At any given time there are 188,000 people in hospitals.

Leaving 1,212,000 to do the work.

Now, there are 1,211,998 people in prisons.

That leaves just two people to do the work.

You and me.

And there you are,

sitting on your butt,
at your computer,
reading jokes.

I have entered the world of podcasting! *jumps up and down with joy*

http://boomchick.podomatic.com

yes, the pic of the kid in the headphones really is me.
I put up some recordings that I am very fond of. I won't be doing any mixing of my own for a bit as I am still waiting for my turntable to arrive in the mail. I have yet to hook up my new firewire audio interface too. Lots of putzing to be done and I suppose I should be doing my homework.

once again slacking. thursday morning is when I am supposed to be in the woodshop. after 3 days of hustle and bustle with class at 8 and 9 I am not going to ever want to go into the woodshop. I am having serious thoughts about not taking classes this semester. If I wasn't in jeremiah, I think I'd stop. I'd still graduate in May, I just wouldn't complete the small business accounting certificate I'm working on. Mostly I don't want to take payroll accounting. but I am, I mean, I already have the book etc. I think I am just really anxious to get a job and get a place. I want out of here. I've gotten it into my head that it is this place that prevents me from having a proper social life. (though in reality it is me)...

I must share that my music library is 6.66 GB. I'm backing it up to DVD right now. First DVDs I have ever burned.
